We recently spent a weekend at the new Great Wolf Lodge in Webster to celebrate my daughter’s 9th birthday. We stayed in a Kid Cabin Suite, which included access to the water park. While the room felt a bit smaller than expected for two adults and three kids, the check-in process was smooth, and the space was cozy. Overall, the kids had an absolute blast, and though we adults tried our best to keep up with their energy, they definitely wore us out! Here are our tips, pros, and cons:
Tips:
- Eat meals off-site at local restaurants for better value.
- Be prepared for long lines at Dunkin’ Donuts in the mornings—wait times can reach 90 minutes after standing in line for 30 minutes to order. (Just go offsite!)
- Don’t miss the popcorn in the lobby—it’s delicious and highly addictive!
- Make sure to grab your free wolf ears from the gift shop.
- Hold off on purchasing a Wolf Pass until you’ve arrived. Explore the attractions first and decide which activities your kids are interested in before considering buying the wolf pass.
- Weekdays are much less crowded, making for a more relaxed experience.
- Be sure to check out the dance party and the Legends of Luna storytime before bed. It’s a magical way to end the day!
Pros:
- The Great Wolf Lodge app is super helpful—it lists all the activities and events happening during your stay.
- You can pack a cooler for your room with snacks and food (no glass allowed).
- Each room has a refrigerator, and there’s a microwave on every floor near the ice machine—perfect for restaurant leftovers or takeout.
- The water park is a blast! Our family especially loved the lazy river and wave pool.
- The staff is friendly, making the experience even better.
- The entire facility is very clean and well-maintained.
Cons:
- The fire alarm detectors in our room flashed throughout the night, which made it hard for the kids to fall asleep.
- You’re required to wear your wristband for the duration of your stay—it doubles as your room key, but it can get uncomfortable.
- Elevators tend to get congested, especially during check-out times and right after shows.
- It is very easy to overspend! Have a plan.
