Meet Jessica Mounce, one of our passionate content contributors here at South Houston Moms! As a local mom who loves exploring all that our community has to offer, Jessica is often out and about with her adventurous baby boy or enjoying time with her family.
With 5 years of teaching experience and an in-home neighborhood preschool, Jessica works closely with young children and brings a wealth of knowledge and a warm, inviting spirit to our platform. From discovering hidden gems to sharing tips for family-friendly activities, Jessica is dedicated to helping other moms find fun and engaging ways to enjoy life in our area.
We’re so excited and lucky to have her share with us and can’t wait for you to get to know her better through her contributions. Check out her interview below!
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your family?
My name is Jessica and I am originally from DFW. I went to college at Texas A&M and have a
degree in Early Childhood Development. I was placed in the south Houston area for my
internship during my last semester of college, and was hired on immediately after so I stayed! I
have 5 years teaching experience. I met my husband while teaching here and we have been
married for three years. We have a 12 month old son together, Jack, who loves adventure! Now,
I am staying home with Jack and running an in-home preschool within our neighborhood.
What inspired you to become involved in sharing your social media content for South
Houston Moms?
We are always trying new places and I loved the idea of sharing the places that we visit,
especially if it could save a fellow mom some time, effort, or money! I know how hard and time
consuming it can be to research new places and activities. If I have done the research and can
give insight, I love to share!
What are your favorite things about our local community?
We LOVE being outdoors, so our favorite things are the parks, splash pads, playgrounds, and
trails! We also love how friendly, helpful, and kind the other mamas and families are when we
are out and about!
How do you think your perspective as a mom enriches the content you create?
Being a mom, I look for anything that makes our lives easier or more difficult while I am out. I
always notice the features and amenities that I know would appeal to other moms. I can also
note any details or tips that could make your trips more successful! I love seeing videos of cool
places on social media, but sometimes I still find myself researching important details before
planning a visit. I love that I get to provide content that is made specifically with moms in mind!
What kind of activities or events do you enjoy sharing with other moms?
I honestly love sharing anything that we do that is a positive experience! However, my favorite
places to share are playgrounds and parks that are baby/toddler friendly because I feel like
they’re harder to find!
What do you hope other moms will gain from the content you contribute?
I hope that they gain knowledge, but also confidence! I know that it was super intimidating,
especially as a first-time mom, to get out and about alone with my baby. I hope that other moms
are inspired to explore their community and make the most of their time with their kids!
How has being a mom influenced your approach to exploring and enjoying our
community?
Now that I am a mom, feeling safe wherever we are exploring is my number one priority! Along
with that, I look for places that are convenient and comfortable to explore in the community.
Places obviously have to be family friendly, and the more kid-friendly amenities, the better!
Lastly, what advice would you give to other moms looking to make the most out of
living in our area?
I would say to not be afraid to try new places! Also, I think getting involved with mom groups on
social media or in person is a great place to start. There are so many things to do in our area.
Find what would be easiest for you, or what you’d be most interested in and just go for it! Every
outing won’t be perfect, but you and your kids will make the best memories together!
